Frequently Asked Questions

es! Founder Basma Hameed has very dry, sensitive skin herself — so the Foundation Stick was built from the ground up to be deeply hydrating and to melt into skin rather than sit on top of it. Her sister, who has rosacea, was also part of the testing process to make sure the formula worked on the driest, most sensitive skin. It won't cling to dry patches, it won't settle into fine lines, and it won't make dry skin look or feel worse.

That said, a little skin prep goes a long way. Before applying, make sure your skin is moisturized. It doesn't have to be anything special — just hydrated skin gives the formula something to melt into.

For application, we recommend dispensing a small amount onto the back of your hand first, then using a dense brush — like the BASMA Complexion Brush — to pick up the product and stipple or dab it into the skin. It sounds like an extra step but it gives you way more control, and the formula really melts in rather than sitting on top.

One more thing: if the stick ever feels less creamy than usual, it's probably just a temperature thing or a little buildup on the tip. Rub it on the back of your hand for a second to warm it up and it'll go right back to its normal, creamy texture.

The Foundation Stick works on all skin types, including dry, combination, oily, and sensitive skin. The formula is hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested and is non-irritant.

If you have very oily skin, you may want to set it with a light powder to extend wear.

Yes! The formula is specifically designed not to settle into fine lines or emphasize texture. It melts into skin for a finish that looks consistent throughout the day - not cakey, not creased.

Customers with mature skin tell us it's the first foundation they've been able to wear that feels completely weightless no matter how much coverage they've built up, doesn't settle into fine lines, cling to dry patches and stays comfortable all day.

Honestly, any of those work! The formula is versatile and easy to blend, so it really comes down to personal preference. That said, the BASMA-recommended technique is to rub the product onto the back of your hand first to warm it up, then use a dense brush — like our Complexion Brush — to either pick up the product from your hand or directly from the stick, and stipple or dab it into the skin. This gives you way more control so you're not using more than you need, and the formula really melts in rather than sitting on top. It's the easiest way to build coverage gradually without overloading one area.

Yes! The formula builds from sheer to full coverage.

Founder Basma Hameed herself wears it as a full coverage foundation, but when she created it she was intentional about making sure customers could choose the coverage that worked for them on any given day.

Start with a small amount and build up where you need more. Even at full coverage, it looks like skin - not like makeup - and remains completely weightless on the skin.

No. The formula is designed not to oxidize or shift. What you see when you apply it is how it looks hours later.

Same skin. Just more even.
